L'Oreal Everpure (Sulfate Free) Shampoo

PRICE: $16 per bottle
FIND IT: at almost all major big box stores and drug stores
WHAT IT IS: sulfate & vegan free shampoo and conditioner - meant to prevent hair color fading

i've been dyeing my hair pretty heavily for the past few months - doing 2 box dyes (all over color and then lowlights or highlights) in one day (bad idea, i know). my hair has been a bit drier because of it and i noticed my last dye job faded out pretty quick. i used to use Pureology (another vegan and sulfate free shampoo, but only available in salons) and found it worked well but wasn't worth the price.

my take on EverPure is that it's extra concentrated, which made me justify the steep drugstore price a little bit. i bought the volume building formula, but the conditioner is still super rich and leaves my hair tangle free and smooth. i coloured my hair about three weeks ago and have not noticed any fading or dryness - unlike my dyejob before. so - it works the way it says it would.

my only complaint about EverPure is the scent. i'm not sure about the other formulations, but the Volume one has a "rosemary/mint/eucalyptus" theme going on and it reminds me of my bf's man shampoo. i'm sure some people would enjoy the smell (it's certainly not offensive) but i miss my fruity shampoos for sure.

SUMMARY: if your dye job is important to you but you don't want to buy salon, definitely spring for EverPure. the anti-fading properties make the 'masculine' smell worth it.

I'll have to check this out. I'm using AG color shampoo, but it's definately not doing the trick. My hair color fades so damn fast and now I can see the red coming through underneath the black.

i don't know if i'm going grey (or crazy) or what - but i used to find full length strands of blonde-clear hairs in my head. sometimes they would turn white in places and then go back to being black. i'm not sure what it is (my dr claimed stress but i mean really, how stressed could i be?). in the past, it was always those strands that lost color super fast (its almost like they can't hold pigment....). i dye just to get rid of them and am so glad to not see them coming back. :twitch:

Well I know grey hair doesn't hold dye for very long. But if they aren't staying grey, then I have no idea what they could be. I have tons of grey hair and I find it's so difficult to keep them colored. But now my hair color is just fading in general.

probably some sick vitamin deficiency or god knows what. they would sometimes practically go clear and then go back to being blonde, then brown, then black. MESSED.

oh and i should also add - i have not tried the styling line for EverPure, but there is one.

Lucky you!! I got stuck with black in my hair a few months ago :frown:
I'm thinking of dying my hair red so I'm definately going to try this out because red hair dye fades so quickly.

I got the Smooth one I think. I can't remember. It was either Smooth or the Moisture one.

I'm not sure how to describe the smell of the one I bought. It's not a really good smell, but it's not horrible either. I was really surprised at how much it lathered for a sulfate free shampoo. I was expecting it to be like other color shampoos where you could use the whole bottle and it never lathers. I ended up using way more shampoo than I needed, but at least it got the product out of my hair without making it feel really dry. The real test will be when I color my hair though.

I get those too I think, they're not grey, they're just..sort of transparent and sort or goldish? They really stand out against my hair, I notice probably one a month. I pull them and sometimes at one end it's dark brown like my natural color and all of a sudden there's no color halfway up.
No idea what the cause could be, meh. I'm not concerned so long as I'm not finding them daily, though maybe I'm not looking hard enough? haha.

I'm giving this stuff 2 thumbs up. Since I re-colored my hair, it's been holding really well. I'm almost due for a re-dye and my color hasn't faded yet. And I like how it lathers.
