Makeup table

Postby RedBopete on Fri Nov 13, 2009 8:22 am

Here's a question for everyone - what (in your opinion) makes a good makeup table? What do you use? How do you like to organize your cosmetics? I'm looking to redoing my table, and especially am curious what works well for everyone else. I'm particularly looking for ideas in regards to lighting. I have one of those crappy, cheap little makeup mirrors (you know, the kind that open up and have 3 levels of lighting), but I find that too small, and the lighting isn't "enough". I see some tables with large mirrors, but I'm not sure if they are too far away to be able to see what you are doing well enough. So... all feedback and suggestions are welcomed, and pictures are even better!

i have a basic vanity, and i have a smaller mirror on top, and it has a magnified part. i use the big vanity mirror to get a look far away to make sure my make up's even and well blended then the little mirror to get the details, like eyeliner, done.
organized i am not tho. i have a bigg ass train case on the floor and a little rubbermaid 3 drawer thing on top of the vanity. i keep my hair stuff in one drawer and my daily needs like foundation and blush and mascara in another, and alot of extra crap in the other and all over. haha. i can't wait to move and set up a proper area, my apartment is too small right now to do what i want.

I have a small desk. Well, it isn't small but compared to a lot of computer/office desks I suppose it's small.

It has 2 drawers on either side. I don't keep much make up in the drawers though.

I keep most of my eyeshadows in a box meant to keep teabags.
(Sort of like this except mine is bigger, I took one of the dividers out and most of my eyeshadows fit perfect.)

It's the only kind of container I've found that organizes the way I like..I open the top and I can see everything, no digging around.
I just keep my pallets out. I use something that's supposed to be a candle holder (hey, it's pretty) to keep brushes in.
One the left I have smaller containers to keep things like rubbing alcohol, hand cream, face cream, make up remover etc sorted.
Q-tips, cotton pads and other random things go in the drawers.

I've had a mirror up on the wall before but it was too far for putting on make up, I had to hold up a smaller mirror.
So I got one of those standing mirrors with a magnified side, lights up.
I need good lighting though, so I put the desk right in front of a window, seems to be the only way I get enough light.

I'd take a picture but it's a mess right now, sorry!
